I grew up in a conservative, religious town and family and struggled with the usual bullying and depression one did in the late 90s. Once an adult, I still held onto negative thoughts about Pride Festivals and being comfortable in my own skin. Then I got out of my head, became active in my local community, and eventually became president of the Augusta Pride Festival. I've tried using my privileges granted to me to help others, while being thankful for the efforts of many that came before me, especially to those that weren't ever able to be comfortable in their environments.
